hey, I have done one short film using my dv camera and it sounded horrible. You could hear the humming noise from the camera and everything. I had to use software to clean it up and it still didn't sound that well. I am currently writing the script and thinking about how i'm going to record sound for the next movie i'm working on. My camera doesn't have a mic input so i was thinking maybe i could record the sound through a protable digital recorder or a mini-disk recorder and sync it to the video. My question is, how is the quality with a typical digital/mini-disc recorder that plugs into usb rather then a mic plugged into the camera? My budget is around $500 for the movie. Thanks,
DTA

The minidisk we've used was fine, though it was a fairly expensive one. If you have a decent mike and a decent recorder you should be fine.

Could you provide me some links for ones you suggest? Do any of them have any mic inputs?
