Am planning to buy this mini dv for around $600...checked on the net for reviews and they appear positive...is there anyone who can give me more feedback on this cam?

is there anything really important i should be lookin for in a mini dv.

i read somewhere that manual controls are hidden deep on this cam...am just a beginner in filmmaking and plan to make short films for my course-- how important is manual controls then?
