hey can anyone tell me at how many minutes does a feature become a movie and not a short? like whats the maximum number of minutes a short can be before it becomes a regular feature length movie, csue el mariachi was only 81 minutes.
I don't think there's any official figure. The rule of thumb is that an 1.5 hours or more is a feature. As you can see, 1 hr 20 minutes is close enough ;-).
Hope this helps.

thx for the help
I believe the Academy Awards say that if it is under 60 minutes it is a short. I guess anything above is a feature. I may be wrong, but its something around that.

This is the ?rule? for Oscar consideration. Not more that 40 minutes including all credits.
If you?re asking about what distributors require - each distributor will have it?s own rules as will each film festival.

"Feature" generally means a self contained movie in its own right. As opposed to a documentary etc. This isnt very helpful though because you can have a short thats a feature.
Just think of news articles, a feature is a article that is non subjective, i.e. not nesisarily to do with and current issues.
