The scene is a dialog between two people out in the street at night during the rain (I know, its pretty stupid and cheesy to have two people standing in the rain talking but WTF right?) How would you shoot and record sound for this? I can conceive of covering the cameras in plastic but what about the mikes?
You could use ACR and record all the dialogue in a house or studio after the scene. That way you wouldn't have to bother with microphones. And how are you getting the rain there?

I've been thinking about it and I might be able to get away with using a mixture of real rain and digital. Maybe shoot the actors in closeup with the background out of focus and with some rain falling on them, then slap on a filter in post that mimics the effect of rain streaking across the frame.
