hey im going to be directing my very first piece( its about a boxing ring, got female boxers... million dollar baby the works) thing is i want it to be absolutely PERFECT, i dont have much cash, so i wont have a typical hollywood (million dollar baby... the works) look.
so these are my questions and please get them to me quick fast and in a hurry at my address iruwakairu?yahoo.com, my name's wanjiru. thanx
>i want to shoot it in color then turn it into blk n wht, or maybe a nice shade of brown/yellow ocre in editing, thing is i dunno jack about lighting, im thinking of using one kinoflo so as to achieve a hard look on my actors faces, is that adviceable? and if so how many kilowats or whatever you ise to measure...the look has to be hard (my firend calls it the 'godfather' look i dunno if thats the right term... also as i dont have many extras, the light should only focus on the ring and have a sillohete feel ...so anyone great in cinematography...help
> at the end of the day its going to be a 30 second Ad... i have a 3 page script most of which describes the atmosphere and feel of whats going on, but im still doubtful... will i have to slash most of the dialouge? -which isnt much...
> camera angles... i suppose ill have to watch lots of boxing flicks Ali... and the rest, but should i use tracking shots (Dolly in) or to acomplish a great effect, should i use a hand held camera. ill be using a PD150.. if the budget allows i can ill use a BETACAM

my minds gone blank, but please send me the details if i have more questions ill holla back
thanx again

one more thing.. should i use professional actors or boxers, i dont have that much time on my hands to train anyone (not that i know how to fight myself)im thinking the pro boxers will be faster.. the actors will be more dramatic...

I combined your two posts into this one, jishk. No need to have two threads in the sane subject.

Before I answer I have a question for you: why are you in such a hurry? I wonder if it would be better for you to slow down a bit, take the time to learn and get more info so you can really make this movie perfect.

Use boxers. If they are the ones with dialogue try to make it voiceover so you dont' have to film the boxing scenes over and over as they screw up. I don't know enough about lighting to comment.
