Hi,

I have been looking on the web to try to narrow down the field of film schools that I would consider attending, So far I have cut the field down to just schools in NYC or LA.. but I am still open to other world wide locations..

The type of school that I am looking would be a year long course, intensive, and professional..

My question is what schools do you suggest and why..

Big question I know as there as so many out there promising the world, but I really appreciate the help..

Thanks heaps
Mischa

I never went to a film school, but some factors to consider might be: find out the school's graduate placement rate (where do graduates go, what do graduates do, where do they get hired, what percent go on and make a feature film, etc.); cost of living in the city the film school is at; any VISA/permit issues for staying in a foreign country; tuition/cost, grants, student loans; are they using film or going digital, HD. Just some thoughts, use em or lose em.

yeah, it depends on what you're going to film school for. do you want an all-around intro into the film world, do you want to be a filmmaker or do you want to be involved in the production side of it?

also, don't rule out smaller technical or arts institutes and colleges for education. you might get more exposure and more attention from the faculty. for example, in minneapolis, where i'm from, they don't have a film major at the 40.000+ student university. my friend had to go to the minneapolis institute of art for his degree. the good thing about that is that he really excelled quickly because he got lots of hands on support due to small class sizes. also, there's no hassle in regards to prerequisite classes and so on.

happy hunting.
