Hello, a friend of mine upgraded to a better camera, so he gave me his old Samsung SCD353 MiniDv. What I was wondering is, can anyone recommend me a good tripod to use with this camera? I also need to buy a non expensive video editing program. My Compaq computer has windows 7 and it did not include windows movie editor. What do you guys recommend to practice editing on?

My plan is to practice making short films with this inexpensive gear to get better. Then when I feel I have a understanding on how to compose different shots together, I will look for other people and leave this cheap gear behind at home.

any other advice and suggestions are welcomed.
