Hey,

I am sixteen, and I want to make a film. I have budgeted it at $198,500. Do any of you have an idea of where to go to try to get money? Thanks.

Dentists. They seem to have funded more low-budget movies than any other single profession.

not to squash your dreams or anything but I would be flabbergasted if anyone gave that much money to a 16 year old.

Probably... but you never know unless you try. How old were the 'Evil Dead' guys? I think they were only about 20, weren't they?

They were college age, which could mean under 20. Still they had a dozen short films to show the Dentists when they went around.

Expect to have them look over your budget in disgusting detail if they do consider fronting the money. Make sure the budget has no fat or anything you can't explain easily to someone who doesn't know film.

Sure, they had a 30-minute version of the movie on Super-8 from what I remember. But it does show that age isn't a total deal-breaker if you can show you have the ability to make a movie.

Im 15 and i wish i had over $198 thousand to make a short film with. Depending on what you wanna do, at your age that's a good starting budget. What's this about dentists? They fund movies? how can i do that?

Yes well, I'm 18 and a half and I have yet to make a movie budgeted over 200 dollars.

HA!

And some of them have been damn good.
Maybe you should start small. Seriously. Goddamn.

That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough! I'm going to clown college!

If you look at the famous low-budget movies of the past, an amazing number seem to have got much of their funding from dentists.

I blame the ether myself :).

Ha. Ether.
Personally I blame the novacaine and the ready availability of painkillers.

OOH, I'VE GOT IT!!! THE LAUGHING GAS!!!
