Quick Question:
I have an old Bell Super 8 camera (no sound)
I've made tons of art films, music videos...
But now I want to record dialogue along with the
footage, two actors, speaking lines, interviews..
How should I go about it? Zoom recorder and a shotgun
mic and then try and sync it together in a better
Video Editing program? right now i'm using Movie Maker
along with Ulead. or is there an easier way?
Recorder and a shotgun mic combined with a clapper board to give a visual/audio snap that will help you sync it together in your favorite editing program. That's old style. It has worked well for just less than a hundred years now and to be honest it's really not that tough to sync things.
This also gives you the freedom to have the audio recorder far from the camera rather than connected by a cable for whatever that is worth.

The issue you will face is the camera isn't crystal sync http://www.filmmaking.net/FAQ/answers/faq130.asp
This will make keeping the dialogue in sync with the picture difficult.

So a lot of quick cutting (which is the current style) will work better than longer cuts. Is that right?

EXACTLY what i was thinking, that Shorter cuts would
work better, at least in this DIY lo-fi setting.
