Hey all,
I'm working on a video for class and I have this shot in my mind but I am not quite sure on how to do it. I want my actor to be walking down the street at night time (in clear focus), and I want to have the neon lights of stores and cars zoom by with a motion blur-like effect. Is this something I would have to do with camera manipulation during production or in post? Thanks!
Could be faked. Shoot the scene making sure the actor is in focus. Then duplicate the layer in your editing program and fuzz and blur out the layer the way you want the cars to look. Then use a garbage matte to make sure your actor shows through the fuzzy layer. If done right the backgrounds should be identical and the matte line should be difficult to spot.
