could some one please give me directions on how to add music to a project in final cut pro.

Using "Import" (in the "File" pull down menu) you will import the music file you want to use into the Browser. Then drag the icon into your timeline.

certified is right but make sure the file is NOT an .mp3 file final cut for some reason doesnt play mp3 files well at all the best playes files (in my expierence) are .aiff and .wave files you can convert in itunes or download one frrom various sites
