I am currently looking at two different film cameras from people I know. I can get these for cheap so I think I would like to take a chance on one of them. The cameras are a Krasnogorsk K-3 16mm and a SANKYO Super CM 660 8mm. I have heard good things about the Krasnogorsk K-3. Does anybody know anything about either of these cameras? Any experience with either brand? Anything would help. I am really serious about pursuing FILM making so these are two cameras I would really like to know more about! Thanks!
Those are two very different cameras. Both are MOS cameras - meaning they do not sync up with any recording machine - but other than that they aren't in the same league. The super8 camera is one of the lower end models which is why they typically sell for $10 to $50. It's not a bad camera and is worth the $10-$50 you will spend. If you want to shoot super8, there are much better cameras out there. Of course you will pay more for a better super8 camera.
The 16mm camera is a fine starter camera. They are solidly built and will last forever. If you are interested in learning about lighting for film (as opposed to video) it's a nice camera. But its use as a camera for short films is very limited.
