So, I'll be shooting today, and there's going to be a LOT of wood chips and dust...what do you suggest?

using the camera to film the scene.

you should have no trouble with the wood chips or dust.

A bit more detail would be helpful.

You might try wrapping the camera in a plastic trash bag or a box to keep dirt and dust out of the electronics.

Experiment with seran wrap to see if you can protect the lens and still get a decent shot, otherwise be prepared to clean your lens between takes.

I'm just spitballing though.

I was filming in workshop where there was a large lathe being used, thus there was a lot of wood-chips and fine wood-dust flying around. I put plastic wrap on every part of the camera, except for the lens. I think that did the trick... I did have to clean the lens every two minutes...

I'm assuming your camera is small enough to do this.

Use a oversized zip-lock, put your camere in the bag with top of camera at bottom of bag, and bottom of camera(where the ziplock is at bottom of camera).

Now press the camera's lens into corner, and make sure its pressed up tightly. Take a exacto-or sharp blade knife, and very very carefully cut a hole in the bag around the lens. Cut big enough hole to slide the lens out. THen use tape(recommend painter non-stick) to tightly seal the plastic bag to your camera. (The plastic or metal shell not near the lens)

If you can -- zip up the bag. if you can't-- then tape it up so no air gets in. With the zip-lock you can still see your lcd, and push and see all the buttons. if the bag is big enough that is.

WOODCHIPS IS NOT THE PROBLEM -- BUT DUST WILL KILL A CAMERA.
