What kind of statistics and research data? If you want boxoffice numbers try boxofficemojo.com, if you want general info on who was in a film imdb.com. Generic research you can try wikipedia or google. Beyond that I think you'll have to be a bit more specific.

you can try mpaa.org for stats (that has information for when you want to talk about the trends of moviegoers, movies, etc. it is more so macro information)
i believe film profit and baseline will do all of the research for you. i think that they will even do a comparable data chart for you. (www.baseline.hollywood.com and www.filmprofit.com) but they charge.
for general info like box office numbers and budgets try www.the-numbers.com (that's free)
