i already shot my first film on a budget of 100$. IT took a year. It was a easy to do horror flick about a fallen angel who kills people before they commit an awful sin. (i later found out that is simialr to Minority Report except with a angel instead of a cop) anyway for that i used a Sony Handycam and Final Cut Pro. I used some external lighting but no microphones. It ended up being an hour film. I had one professor tell me that it was the best student film he had seen in a while (considering i was using a handycam and such) even though the acting was so so technically it was very sound. So now this summer i plan on doing an action/comedy hour film but i have a question. Should i wait to shoot till i have updated my camera and software or should i shoot with my handycam and Final Cut?
I just finished my freshman year of college so am i running out of time and growing to old for my camera or what? when should i upgrade?
"Anyone who has ever been privileged to direct a film also knows that, although it can be like trying to write 'War and Peace' in a bumper car in an amusement park, when you finally get it right, there are not many joys in life that can equal the feeling." - Stanley Kubrick
Don't wait.
Shoot now. Shoot often. Every time you spend a day shooting you learn more.
