OK seasoned vets and film students. I've got a Producer/Logistics question.
What paperwork is common in the production of a feature? I've found downloadable documents all over the web, but I don't want to push needless paperwork on my crew just because I found it online. I want any paperwork (reports, logs, etc.) to be useful and important.
Maybe a better way to phrase this is what kinds of paperwork would you view as essential? This is a small production (under $100K), so I want to keep accurate records and have enough paperwork to make the production flow well, but not so much that I bog the process down.
Thanks a lot!
The bare essentials would be;
Health and safety risk assessments of every location and situation
Location releases
Talent releases
Freelance employment contracts
Probably some kind of music licencing depending on what music you use
Production accounts
Plus you should really have a production company set up. I think these are the real important ones, all the others, like call sheets, schedules etc. are basically organisational documents so it's up to you how you do them, the above is what you need to be safe, legal and able to distribute the film professionally.
