Greetings. I'm a noobie here, planning to shoot a thriller movie in one location (a house). I'm wondering if the type of camera will make a difference in the quality of the film. My brother has an old (90s model) videocamera that is NOT digital. My cousin has access to film equipment (HD), and I'm thinking of buying a DV camcorder as my brother's camera simply is not workable. Any suggestions? Truly,
I can't go over $500 for the camera if I buy one. Should we simply stick with the equipment my cousin can rent?

Use your cousin's camera. You won't be able to get a camera that
will make a difference in the quality of the image for $500 or less.
