I am looking to purchase a Panasonic dvx100a and found quite a few on ebay. Obviously they are used and some of them have 100+ hours on the camera heads. I am new at this and don't know much about that stuff. Is it even worth getting one that has that many hours? What should be the max. amount of hours when considering purchase?

100 hours is nothing really; I read that the heads on my TRV900 were rated for 1500 hours, and I presume a more modern camera would do better. The TRV900 finally seems to be dying after nearly ten years of use for movies, editing and holiday videos, but I have no way of telling exactly how many hours it's lasted.

Either way, I'd expect to get at least 1000 hours out of a decent DV camera before it needs a new head.
