Hi!

I know that NYU's grad film school is hard to get in - but does anyone know exactly HOW hard? What GPA do they usually accept for the undergrad mark, how many apply vs. how many get accepted, do you have to be wealthy (I'm not from the U.S.)? If anyone knows the answers to any of these questions, it would be great! I'm also thinking about Columbia...

Thanks!

im thinking about going there for grad school. I believe that the average ungrad school student that gets into the school has a 3.0gpa. And it is pretty expensive. I think its about 18 grand a year but dont quote me on that. I know you also have to submit a portfolio which includes a half an hour of footage. From what i understand its alittle eaier to get in as a grad student then straight from high school. I also know that for their grad program the portfolio is a fairly large part of what can get you in.

Thats the website. Theres plenty of info on there

"Anyone who has ever been privileged to direct a film also knows that, although it can be like trying to write 'War and Peace' in a bumper car in an amusement park, when you finally get it right, there are not many joys in life that can equal the feeling." - Stanley Kubrick

Hi!

I had checked the site out before, so I know what they require. However, I was just wondering if there was any information that was not available to the average applicant, but are "rumoured" to be true.

For instance, I heard that you have to be pretty wealthy as an international student to be accepted.

Anyway, does anyone know anything else about the following schools (for Graduate Film)?

Columbia
UCLA
USC

Cheers.

On the web site they tell you the fees for non US students. I'm not sure the "wealthy" rumor is really a rumor. Grad school is expensive and living in NY is expensive. I would guess it's impossible to pay the tuition and live in the city if you don't have some money.

Schools in the US are under extreme presser by activists and the government to be fair to all applications - I would be surprised if "wealthy" is a condition of acceptance. If you have the academic requirements and can pay the tuition, you have just as much a chance of getting in as anyone.

The "how hard" question is easy to answer. It's extremely difficult to get into any film school.
