I got a laptop last summer, and use it mostly for editing. It works fine, except for the fact that there's no firewire port, adn since my editing program doesn't work with usb, I have to capture the video into Windows Movie Maker on my desktop, and then transfer it to my laptop with my Flash Drive. This leads to small bits of film, that I have to seperate at each scene once I import it into Vegas. I was wondering it there was any way capture the video straight to my laptop. This would put a stop to much frustration when it comes time to edit my films.

I'm a Mac user so I can't help. Hopefully some of the Vegas users here
will help out.
Could it be as simple as buying a video card with firewire? Or am I
out of my element here?

yep i got vegas and a pc.
certified is right though, you would need to buy a firewire port and have it intalled in your computer. i'm not sure how to do this whitch a laptop, however, i installed mine on to a desktop.
