Seeing as i know virtually nothing about lights at this point in time...i have a question.
I was wandering around a local DIY store today and came across a Telescopic 500w Halogen Lamp, so i need to know if these are good for using as lights for film work?

Yes, these lights, sometimes called "work lights" have been a cheap option for independent filmmakers for many years.
