Hi, I've got a Bolex H16 reflex camera and this is my first time shooting film so I'd appreciate some guidance before I ruin the film I've got to work with.

10mm f1.6 lens
Kodak 7266 Tri-X Black & White Reversal (EI 160 Tungsten, 200 Daylight)
Sekonic L-358 flash meter

I have to shoot a 1-2 min cooking instructional in the kitchen.

When I look through the viewfinder, the image is so dark that I can hardly see anything (and that's at f1.6 and the shutter fully open). I suppose that means three 100W overhead lights is not enough (is that where the meter comes in)? If I add lights to the point that the viewfinder becomes useful, are there any general suggestions anyone can give for the setup? f-stop, distance, etc.? I'm not yet firm on how these things relate.

I've heard that the viewfinder is worthless on this model and I'm so new to how this works that I'm hesitant to just set the parameters, point, shoot and hope for the best. Any help would be appreciated!

I own three different Bolex 16mm cameras. The view finder is very, very different
than the electronic viewfinder on a video camera. It's not "worthless" but it can
not be used to determine the amount of light you need to expose the film. Use
the light meter to tell you when you have enough light for your film stock, use
the viewfinder to check your framing.

I too am shooting with a Bolex H16 reflex and also using a Sekonic L-358. Due to the 130 degree shutter angle of the Bolex, does anyone know what proper adjustment should be made to the ISO setting (I am shooting with 100 ISO film) on the L-358 meter to compensate for this shutter angle? Any answers are appreciated.
