I have been researching and making short movies since I was about 14. I am now about 20 and although I feel that I have a pretty good understanding of indoor lighting, outdoor lighting is an entirely different matter. So far the only outdoor shooting I have done at night is either near an outlet, or I use the lighting conveniently provided by the city. Either way, this limits me to a more or less urban setting. If I am going to film at night somewhere away from outlets and streetlights, do I need a generator? Are there effective battery powered lights? Which provide better results vs. price?
