Hey there. I'm the epitome of all that is ignorant in filmmaking. Yeah, I know the general differences between 16mm and 35mm, but I've never operated a professional camera, just little camcorders. Oh, and I'm pretty good at making videos on Premiere.
What I'm looking for is a GOOD camera to buy to get me introduced to the indie filmmaking world. They say you learn best with hands on stuff, so I'm looking for something advanced beyond just a camcorder.
I'm looking for something that will not hinder me, but will also won't intimidate me either.
Long story short: I've heard good stuff about the CANON X2 and the AG DVX100.
Are those good, or should I pick something else? Please, give me some recommendations!
Whoops, I meant the Canon XL 1
Get the Canon XL-2 (in my opinion). It's a reliable camera and it shoots 24fps. We shot my last short film on it and the footage came out awesome.

Bruce Campbell - "So you want to get into show biz?"
Me - "Yeah, I'd really like to direct movies."
Bruce Campbell - "Cool. Just don't suck."
