Hey me and a friend of mine and a rag tag group have decided to produced a small film. We have a Canon L2 and A Sony VX3 so we are using Hi-8 as our format. DV is still to far out of our reach and a Sony MZ-R37 Portable Minidisc Player/Recorder for on location sound. What do you think? Are we off to a good start or a bad start? We will be using pinnacle software for editing. Would love some feedback. We are trying to maximise the small budget we have.

Way more important than equipment is a good story.

As long as you have that, you're off to a great start!

Thank you we have a good story to shoot. We have done some good sequences too. Wish is luck we start the bulk of shooting in the late summer. Whoopee we're making a moveie! I think!

You've got the basics, believe me creativity in movies is more than story deep, you have to be resourceful and use what you can get. I just recommend that you look into a few shooting basics such as white balance, shot composition, ect. these little things will improve the quality of your film way above the average point and shoot crowd, believe me a little research can go a long way in this industry.
