Hello everyone. I'm new here after finding this site today in a Google search lol.

I am a young hopeful director / screenwriter, in my first year at Uni, and am currently writing my first feature length screenplay. Hopefully will finish the script early next year, save up for equipment, find actors and start shooting Janury 2009.

This message was just a hello to everyone really, and if anyone can give me tips and pointers about being a newbie here, going into film-making and such things.

If anyone wants to check out my first short it's on Youtube. I did this short all on my own, one camera and some editing kit. It was to get an idea of filming really, and techniques and angles.

That should be the link

Feedback would be greatly appreciated 😀

Thanks in advance, Richard J xx

Technically the short is very good but I have to ask you, what's the point because I'm missing it. No real story, no theme, no character. There was no real beginning middle or end either. Just a guy in the morning and as far as that it could have been done far faster to get him out the door.

It was literally just for a first try to get camera angles and continuity shots correct. I have another one which has more of a story and upload it soon

Welcome to this site. There are some great people posting here so stick around. Since you are getting started...know that the key is your script. Your screenwriting has to be great to make a great film. You can have all the money, actors, crew, etc. and if your script is not great...your film will not be great. Make sure you come back and let us critique your script...in private if need be, but script feedback is a necessary evil. It can be painful, because none of like to think our writing stinks. I'll be the first to admit I've written some real crap, but keep working at it and improve.
