Hey,

I am a begginer film-maker and I was wandering what the best camera would be for me? I was looking into the Sony Digital HI8, but thought I would look around at the forums before I bought one.

Thanks,
Arch Angel

if you want to spend as little money as possible and you're just starting out, get one of the cheaper JVCs on ebay. decent camera, and if you're lucky you'll spend less than 200 bucks.

Ok, thanks man. I'm actually thinking about a Sony Digital HI8. What do you think of those?

Just curious, why are you considering the HI8 over MiniDV?

I actually going with a Sony DCR-TRV480 Digital 8 instead of the HI8. Better deal altogether.

as far as i know, miniDV is better than any of the sony digital8 stuff. plus, it might be better compatible with editing software. i would just stick with minidv.

A few things:

Don't go HI-8 or miniDV, got Digital-8. 😉

It goes like a dream. Good quality, and with a FireWire, goes on your pc.

I suggest a Sony DCR-TRV255E. It's a high-ish price, but the results justify that.
