im looking for some new software for around ?50/$100 (i dont mind if it is slightly more expensive though). I want a program that has a good solid editing suite. I know it is not alot of money so im not expecting miracles but just wandered what you thought.

Also what are the features that are most important in editing. Also im using a pc with vista

Thanks

Vegas Movie Studio starts at $75.

I've only used the Pro version so I don't know what's missing in the Movie Studio version, but it's a pretty solid editor.

I have Vegas Movie Studio. I've never used Pro, so I'm not sure what is missing, but I know that Movie Studio doesn't have masking/rotoscoping like Pro does. Other than that, Vegas Movie Studio is a great program, especailly for the price.

thanks i will look at vegas. Has anyone used both adobe premier elements and vegas movie studio and if they have which they think is better. Also zlindee92 does vegas have many built in effects and can it do colour corection. I am asking you guys this as you are filmmakers who have used this program properly and i think you will have a better understanding then those of the review websites.

Thanks

I prefer vegas. I used to use adobe, but it ran really slow and choppy on my computer. As for Vegas, it's got quite a few effects. I haven't doneany color correction on it so I'm not sure about that part.

Here's Sony's page comparing all the features of each version:

It doesn't look like Movie Studio has anything for color correction. However, Movie Studio Platinum ($115) at least has a Primary Color Corrector. If you can go Pro that'd definitely be the way to do it, but otherwise just stick with Platinum.
