hey guys,

i have about between 1000 and 1200 dollars, im want to get the most out of it so i really need some help on what camera to get. my main thing is trying to get that film look and good video performance, also a mic input. All help will be greatly appreciated.

I live in the UK so I'm not 100% sure how far your money will go but you should either get a 3CCD mini DV camera, or (a better option) an HDV camera. Consider looking on Ebay for bargains or offering cash if the store throws in some extras like blank tapes/spare battery type stuff. The brand of camera is entirely personal choice, most people use Sony or Canon, go into some electronics stores and try some models out, see what makes most sense to you.

No camera can give you "film look", to acheive this you need to shoot and grade well, film lenses also help but are very expensive, people will tell you to buy a camera with "progressive scan" for a more filmic look but plenty of pros will tell you never to use prog scan because it sucks.
