I need to purchase two wireless lav mics to plug into my camera. The inputs on the camera are XLR.
Any recommendations?
By XLR what size do you mean? There is a "1/8th" inch XLR plug-in and there is also a 1/4" inch XLR...basically the 1/8th" is much smaller (if your camera or camcorder accepts what looks similar to a headphone jack, like something you would plug into your iPod.
If you intend on recording via an audio interface of some sort (some suggested interfaces are listed below this paragraph...some include the computer hardware for an extra $1000 (as if anyone can afford $1000) but the actual recording material is no where near as complicated as it looks. You can even go to the extent of purchasing an audio interface, such as the mBox mini 2
( http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=104&itemid=23596) for around $300-400 (check out GuitarCenter.com and search "mBox Mini 2" and you'll find a number of packages they have put together for online orders only...some include speakers and some other goodies.
So basically, having a 1/8" input jack would be beneficial fiscally, however unless you're serious about your audio, dishing out an additional $500+ on audio recording equipment (plus plug-ins) that you'll just have to carry everywhere you go while filming, maybe keeping it plugged into a laptop at all times...not really sure, never tried it.
Hope I helped.

I have never heard of or seen a 1/8" XLR
or a 1/4" XLR. I only know of four types
of XLR - the most common three-pin and
the XLR4, XLR5 and XLR6. I know the 4,5
and 6 pin XLR connectors are used for
lighting instruments.
Could you post a link to a 1/8" XLR and a
1/4" XLR. I know of adaptors from the
standard 3-pin XLR to 1/4" phone plug and
a 1/8" mini plug but I didn't know there were
different sizes of XLR's.
ecroskey - I would recommend Senheisser
wireless lavs.
