Hi I have been spending the last 6 months putting together my own ''Anthology'' On the Beatles. I origionally made the video for my own amusement. The video is now complete and I have shown it to several ( Beatlefan ) friends. ALL of them were knocked out by it and they said I should see about getting it a wider audiance. I cant tell you exactly what they said because it involves the ''F'' word, but they were keen to tell me other Beatles fans would love to see it. My problem is that because I never made the video to release it or anything, I never got a licence to use the Beatles music etc etc and I dont want to break the law, but I WOULD like a wider audiance to see the video without it bankrupting me. Any suggestions folks?
Thanks. The Wanderer.

i would probably go about it one of two ways.

approach the publisher of the songs and ask for permission to use them, and sort out what license you need etc. i would guess that may involve different publishers, seeing as the rights to beatles songs seem to go back and forth a bit.

or secondly, try to approach an official fan club, tell them about your film and ask them for help....you never know they might be keen to get involved.

You'll need to sort out all of the underlying rights in the production (music and any video used that you didn't shoot yourself) before you can consider distribution. This a complex and potentially expensive thing to do, particularly where popular music is concerned. More on the murkey area of music rights can be found in the FAQ under Legal Issues.

As far as getting it out there goes, you probably need to get a sales agent (sometimes called a Producer's Rep in America) on board who an take it to the TV markets. Contact your local/regional/national government film office and ask them if they can recommend reputable sales agents.
