Who decides what the movie poster looks like? I mean ultimately is it the directors say? For instance if the director comes up with an idea for a poster can he just tell whomever creates the poster how to make it, and how he wants it to look?

i think the person that decides the design, look and feel for the entire film is the Art Director.
the Director i guess still has a say as he/she still is the Visual carrier of the entire movie.
if you know any people in advertising, ask them to hook u up with an Art director from their fim, that way, you could possibly make a poster... that is if your making one
