Any advice on transfering film recorded on miniDV over to a digital copy so that I can edit it on Adobe Premier? Am new to this so any advice on transfer would be great.

Many thanks,

Oliver

In most cases the camera used to shoot the minDV footage has a Firewire port that can be connected directly to your PC Firewire card. Usually a special Firewire cable is required because the cameras don't have room for the big honking Firewire port so they have special smaller ports.

You computer probably isn't equiped with a firewire port. I found a firewire card on ebay for ten dollars (with shipping) and it came with the firewire cord.

Be carefull if you go to a place like The Source or Futureshop (Circuit City and Best Buy to you US folks) I picked my camera up there and they tried to sell me a firewire card and a special cable for $100 CND. Instead I went to a small locally ran computer shop and picked up a card that came with a cable for $14 and it captures perfectly. Don't be fooled by salesmen.
