I need a cheap camera or deck to hook up to my editing rig that will play DVCAM-compressed MiniDV tapes. For weeks I've searched the Internet, forums, shops, and at this moment I can taste my own frustration. Apparently no one knows or cares about compression formats unless they're spending $8,000.
Does anyone out there have a link or a resource that will list cameras, compression codecs, and playback capabilities? Or anywhere I could go that would have this kind of detail on different cameras?
Thanks.
I swear to this website, check this one out if you haven't already.

Thanks...it doesn't really answer my question, but the prices are very good.
In my experience, most Sony cameras will play Mini-DVCAM even if they don't record it. My TRV900 certainly does.
That's good to know. I was concerned that not even Sony's cheaper cameras played DVCAM. I'll take a look into it.
I'd still like to find some kind of resource for cameras and their formats for compatibility purposes. If anyone knows of any such resource, please let me know.
