Does anybody know of any free good lighting guides? With images and diagrams and everything?

Lighting for less.

You can try using paper lanterns to light indoors or outdoor night shots. You can also go to any dollar store and get a silver umbrella & a flashlight. Tape the light to the handle faceing the top. A non-reflective tripod becomes the stand. Just experiment and see what works. If it doesnt work for you, you're only out about five bucks.
