Hi guys and gals. I have just recently developed an intersest in making videos for the songs that i write. However, the video i want to create is almost impossible for me to shoot myself. It will be mostly animal kingdom discovery channel type stuff. like tigers and lions doing their thing. eagles soaring and what not.
I will probably never use the videos to make money or anything. Is there a way for me to legally use other video that i find to make my own clips? Can you see where i'm going with this? How can i get these images without taking it from somwhere else? Impossible. So do i need to pay people money for rights to use video. I don't think that's neccessary, since this is only for personal enjoyment. Thanks

Welcome to filmmaking.net.

It's illegal. Technically it's illegal even for private use, but seriously, Discovery Channel isn't going to come after you. However, if you show the final video publicly - even without getting paid - that could cause you legal problems.

For personal enjoyment and experience you won't run into any trouble.
