im looking into getting a laptop to be able to use for editing and writing screenplays. what are the minimum specs i should look for to be able to run at a decent speed?

This film cost $31 million. With that kind of money I could have invaded some country.

For writing sceenplays and editing screenplays almost any laptop will do. If you expect to edit your movie on the laptop you might consider looking up what kind of editing software you expect to use and find the minimum requirements.

I believe Adobe Premiere only requires a MINIMUM of 800mhz. I just want to know what a decent set up is. What do you use?

I believe that Premiere Pro requires you to have at least a Pentium 4 or equivalent processer. You're going to want to look at RAM, I would say a min. of 1 gig. If you're using digital then the laptop is going to need firewire. Last you're going to want a decent sized hard drive because we all know that video isn't small.

That's the basics and you shouldn't need anything more then that unless you're looking to get really fancy.

A regular plain ol' iBook is an excellent value for the money. Sure, there are cheaper PC laptops out there but at $999 the iBook will have a much longer lifespan, never crash (seriously) and comes pre loaded with two great post tools: iMovie HD and GarageBand. Besides, they look cool.

Is there a reason you want a laptop over a desktop?

That's what I figured. But you do know that you could save a lot of money if you went the desktop route?
