Well I won't say I am a newbie at filmmaking, I did 7 films so far and they're all good. But what I want to ask for some of you and please give me an answer on this. I have a DVD Camcorder and I am trying to import videos from the disc onto my PC but it's not working. I put the disc in the hard drive and trying to import it, nothing happens. And I don't have a cord to hook it up to the camcorder and into my PC. So my question is: Where can I find a cord for my DVD camcorder? It's a Hitachi DVD Camcorder 1200x Digital Zoom/25x Optical Zoom DZ-BX25A. So can anyone help me on this?
Thanks,

When you say you are trying to "import" from dvd camera to pc what are you trying to import to? What program?
When you say it does not work, does not work how? Error message?
I would think an experienced film maker such as yourself would go to where you purchased the camera and see what "cables" are available for what you are trying to do. USB? Firewire? Duct Tape?

Go to the Hitachi website, or you could even try ebay. I presume your refering to a DV lead, in which case you should be able to get one from any electrical store. Cleary.

If you're saying you were getting an error when trying to copy the files from a dvd, you could try a program meant for ripping dvds like dvd decrypter or dvd shrink. Although, that may compress the video.
Step 1: Sell your camera
Step 2: Buy a camera that takes tapes
Step 3: Reshoot
Thats seriously the easiest way, ive found, to get footage off one of thoes DVD cameras into a NLE. But alternativly, you should be able to put the DVD disks into a DVD drive and somehow extract the MPEG 2 files. and convert them to MOV or AVI depending on your edit software. Some will take MPG files. After all this i would reccommend selling the camera anyway. DVD and HDD cameras are worse than anything, i swear.
