Hi everyone!!I have just been introduce to the wonderful world of film making and editing?:)? and I wanna make this a full time profession.The thing is going abroad to study in a film school is expensive and its out of the question as I have only just began,I wanna hear from veterans in the industry,professionals and even newbies if the school in our country ( http://www.filmschool.ph/) and pursuing my passion is all worth it.Thanks!
The only person who can decide if it's worth it is you. The film business is brutal and full of massive egos, 18 hour days and bad work.
But, it's also something that infects you. If it's something you love then you put up with the abuse because you just can't stay away. In a horrifying way, being in the film industry is like being in an abusive relationship.

Its up to you at the end of the day.
But i never went to film school and learnt all my skills by a few books and watching tons of movies and special features. So much cheaper and just as good.
I also made a short film last year for under ?300 with actors from drama schools. The quality of the script and the actors shone throguh. Money was insignificant.
I am now making my second short using my camcorder only and it costs nothing.
what DAVE says is true if your a below the line cog. Im in film school atm, dont waste your time, just like every fucking school before and after it its just a more expensive adult day care.

I been to a few crash courses but by that point had already written several screenplays and made several shorts. The teachers were simply repeating everything the books said.
I also felt i was far ahead of my fellow students in filmmaking. I didnt bother attending full courses. As u said, waste of time and money.
What do u hate bout film school?
