I'm 17 years old and have been facinated with all aspects of film since I could remember.I want to act, direct, write. You get my drift.Anyways,Ive taken a drama class in school and have been in school plays. However, recently film making has been my interest. I have a device which can upload the movies I make on the family digital camera and I have CPU editing software. Is this a good way to start filmmaing? I'm most likely gonna go to the New York Film Academy (if i can get it). So,for now, is this good?

Yes. Get a few friends together, write a script, shoot it, and edit it. Continue doing so and improving as you go along... eventually you'll be a good movie-maker.
I'm not sure that it's true of all the top directors, but many started in their teens or earlier shooting movies of their friends on Super-8 or home video. It's a cheap way to make mistakes and learn the things you need to know to make a good movie.
Yeah. I'm in a similar situation to you as well. Just get practice in all the aspects of film as you can. Practice makes perfect.
Originally I made a little horror movie and I thought It was great.I showed it to a few people and they said "It's okay for your first film".My dad said it sucked, lol.Anyways,I just got done filming the sequal and it's alot better.Everyone thinks so.I'm gonna show my dad when he gets in.

My recommendation is to create a website and upload the movies to the site and get strangers' opinions of it...
I'm running on 56k, I don't think I could do that XD
