what is the technical term given to a series of shots, which often are in sequence... im currently writting a script which begins with a man typing on his computer but we dont get to see his face, just a quick zoom into his eyes. you get to see him type, with EXT close ups on his hands, you get to see fingers flip pages over.. and the like. so i wrote down 'MONTAGE:' as the sequence, but im not convinced, cos when shooting it, it might appear like snap shots instead.. if you watched 11:14 you remember the images that flashed once in a while.. yeah something like that. so whats the techical term and please don tell me its a montage cos this will all be a watse.

Well.....

The technical term is montage. But since you don't want to be told that, how about calling it a series? Or a series of shots?

If you are writing this script to sell, then you shouldn't put in any shots at all. You job as the writer is to tell the story, NOT set up shots. If you are writing this to shoot yourself, then you can call it anything you want - after all, YOU'RE the director.

Whenever you have scriptwriting questions it is often useful to go to Drews Script O-rama, find a screenplay that has a similar effect to what your are looking for and see how they wrote it.

Doesn't always work but its a nice resource.
