Hi there! I'm looking to buy a film projector for my boyfriend for Christmas, but I know nothing about them, and don't want to ask him (it may give the suprise away). We've looked at projectors at electronic/camera stores, and the ones he wanted to get, on sale, ranged from $400 to $700. He was always complaining/pointing out that they were too slow or had poor image quality-maybe too few pixels or something? (I really have no idea at all)

Anyway, He mainly wants to use it for playing his own films on a screen from his computer,(he's a 3D and motion graphics animator) and also regular movies from the DVD player and/or VCR (I think). Could anyone give me any reccomendations/information about projectors? I looked on eBay, and found ones for $200 to $350, but again, I don't know anything about what I'm looking for. Thank you, and please forgive my ignorance on this subject.

24 hours is somewhat quick to start getting snarky over lack of answers. It also seems to be a good way to ensure that nobody will provide advice. If your last post was not intended to be snarky than all I can say is it appears that way.

Is sarcasm really warranted at this point?

I can't speak for anyone else, but yesterday was a very
busy day for me - Halloween events to coordinate, my
regular job at WDI, the final night of a show I directed....

Well I doubt you're interested in my busy life. I didn't have
much time to look over the info I have on projector specs
and offer advice. I guess that didn't really matter to you.

This is a very helpful community of people but most of
us actually make movies and don't have the time to check
this board every few hours in order to get information
to a first time poster within your expected time frame.
I'm sorry we all disappointed you and I'm sad you decided
to resort to sarcasm when we didn't meet your needs.

First impressions are difficult to overcome, aren't they. You
now think the people who post here don't care about new
people and at least two of us think you're way to impatient.

Sorry about that. I hope you find a faster community of people.
