Hello, I have posted on this once before and lost the info you have so nicly provided. well, I need to ask it again. I am looking ofr a mini DV camera. But I have spcific needs. It needs to be small, it needs to be good for making samll movies or even music videos...you know...then edit it with the proper software. The reason I want ti to small is becaseu I want to have it with me at almost all times. I plan on really getting into catching footage. I have heard the Canon Elura is not to bad a place to start. but basaically I want out of a small 700 dollor camera what i could get out of a 3000 dollar camera. I know I am not going to get exactly that. but something really good to start with would be great. Thanks, I hope to hear from ya. you can email me back at syztem7?hotmail.com. cheers..pardon my grammar

Well this is the problem, isn't it?

That $2,300 difference is huge. And it's the difference between a 3chip camera and a 1chip. And THAT'S a huge difference, too.

If what's most important to you is being able to carry your camera around to catch shots, that Elura is a nice, small camera. Other than being small, there is nothing to recommend about it.

I love Canons, I've been using different canons for several years, but I hate the Elura. A good 'place to start' to me would to buy the lowest end 3-CCD camera. But I suppose it really matters what type of projects you're working on. You're just going to have to find that line between price and quality that works for you.
