Since I'm a cinematographer who has mainly made my living in non theatrical films,TV news and commercials,I'm wondering how many films are getting done, not only outside the infamous studio system, but in cities nowhere near Hollywood or LA.I live in Jacksonville,Florida which is your basic business town.Conservative both socially and financially. We have had films made here from Hollywood and NY and some micro micro budget films done locally.
I know small budget films are getting done elsewhere, but I want to hear some of your stories here on how you got your films financed, off the ground and sold without the benefit of the studio system.
We have alot of talented people here, some prime locations and excellent weather about 85% of the year, not to mention a super cheap standard of living.
Also,if you have worked in Jacksonville on a film before,I would like to hear your honest opinion of your experience.I've heard mixed reviews and you can't believe what you hear from the film commisioner's office.
