Hey, I've finally come up with enough money to buy a camara, but I have no idea what to buy. I have $1000 which I know isn't much, but I know can get me something decent. Well, for an amateur filmmaker ;?
Help please.

But hey, what would you just recommend I use?
Just one. I've managed to come up with another
$300 so, now I'm good for $1300.

At $1,300 there isn't much difference between cameras. It comes down to the brand YOU are most comfortable with. Frankly Sony users will suggest Sony, Canon users will suggest Canon, Panasonic users will suggest Panasonic and JVC users will suggest JVC. Any camera that has the three essentials will do ya just fine!

I own a Panasonic AG-DVC20, and it is a 1/6" 3 CCD camera, with manual focus rings and adjustable aperture. I am pretty satisfied with it, and it is within your price range. However, I am considering upgrading to a Panasonic DVX100B, as I gain some more money. The only issue I have had with this camera is a slightly soft focus, but otherwise a really great camera. I would highly suggest it. Don't take the focus issue to seriously, as it's just me griping about the one thing I have had issues with.
