I'm trying to understand why many actors, directors, writers and such like that work in TV series don't work in Films. I was paying attention to their filmographies on IMDb and that was what I got it. Besides to choose what to do or what to become do I have to make a choice between TV and film industry ?

It isn't a matter of if you choose one the other door is closed. People go
where the work is. There are far more episodes of TV shows written and
produced each year than feature films. Many writers enjoy the work. Many
directors would rather direct several TV episodes of TV each year than one
film every two years. Actors, too, find work more work in TV than in film.

You can choose to work mostly in film. You can choose to work mostly in
TV. You can choose to go where the work is and do both. What other people
have done or are doing has no bearing on what YOU choose.

Having spoken to a fair few different people with in the UK television industry I can tell that realistically its a matter of personal preference as each deal with different constraints and limitations, so as much as its a personal choice I think its also about how you work best as well as different people work differently under different types of preasure.

But the advice I would give you is to contact as many different production teams and apply for work experience. Its not going to pay any thing to start with, but like most people it affords you the oppertunity to network, gain experience and climb the ladder (As you'll hear many different people refer to). Then its about personal development getting better with in what ever role you take up as part of the production team.

Hope that helps, Cleary.
