Ok. Maybe this is a stupid question, maybe it isn't. Maybe its the simplest thing or the world, or maybe it isn't.

But there's something I've been thinking and can't figure out.

How do they do it when A complex scene is shot, I mean complex movements. Let's say for example, a guy is playing the guitar. The sound runs the same and smoothly, but, if there is only one camera for shooting, how do they do so to change shots, or frames, and even lighting, and keep the movements in accordance with the sound? I understand you can record the sound in another device, but still.

Am I explaining well? or just confusing?

What I mean is that a shot changes, let's say from full frame to finger close up. the fingers are playing what you hear, but, did the actor/guitarist stop his playing and continued until the camera had moved? or, how do you do that?

Well..I hope I figure that out someday. please help me.

You would get a nice, clean recording of the guitar. Then you would play back the sound as you shoot the full frame. The actor plays along with the recording but you don't actually record the on set sound. You cut, move the camera, start the recorded track and shoot the close up with the actor doing the same thing.

Do as many different angles as you want.

Then in the editing program you lay down the audio track and sync the picture until it looks right.

In other words you have the guitarist lip sync and you keep the audio track seperate.

Another way is to set up a few cameras to run at the same time, you can take the audio from one but the rest should sync nicely. This is how Sitcoms do it with three cameras. Saves time and money if you can afford it.

There are other ways no doubt but they'll be difficult and have less solid results.
