I'm working on a script for a web series and I'm looking to find a filmmaker(s) who is interested in working with me on it, how would you recommend putting your work out there and making connections. Is there a place filmmakers often go to find short scripts to produce?

This is where filmmakers can find tons of short and feature scripts submitted by amateur and independent writers.

cool, thanks! Are there any other popular sites you recommend? Also, do a lot of filmmakers write and produce their own stuff, or are they out there looking for material written by others.

I would also recommend the myspace online filmmaking communities personally

Do you live in an area with a university or college?
Do you live withing 50-100 miles of a city that holds a film festival?

???Thanks. Those are good suggestions as well. Unfortunately, I don't live near a town that holds a film festival, but there are a couple universities nearby -- not that either is known for having a major film program. Proximity would be nice, but I don't mind it being filmed elsewhere.

Does the film program need to be a major one? Perhaps the universities
nearby have a film program where there are filmmakers looking for scripts.

While going on line is fine, there is nothing like a personal connection.
People love to work with people they know personally. You could offer
to help out on the set of student films. Getting to know filmmakers is a
great way to filmmaker willing to work with you. Actors are also a good
resource. Most universities with a drama department will have people
enrolled who are also interested in making movies. Do you live in a place
where there is a small community theater?

Thanks for the ideas, you've been very helpful. And I take your point that I need to be prepared to put in a little elbow grease to get this done. I am going to follow your suggestion and research local resources and try and make contacts, in addition to using the web. These are things I should have thought of myself, but I've been too narrowly focused on the writing. You've given me a lot of go on, and hopefully things will come together.

Another suggestion would be to get in touch with your local film authority & see wether or not there are any events happeing, in which case you have the chance to network in person.
