I just recently posted a short film I'd like to shoot early next year.

I try to spread the word but it doesn't seem to work? How would you guys go about raising some funds for a project that you worked forever on!
I know the concept it isn't about getting somebody to give a ton of money but it's about getting a bunch of people to donate a little.
100 people donate 10 dollars = 1000 dollars!
I bet you guys have been where I'm at before!
Could you donate a $1 or 5 - 10 dollars? or spare a word of advice?
Thanks!
Steve
Welcome to filmmaking.net.
It's really difficult to get people you don't know
to donate to your project, isn't it? Have you ever
donated $10 to a filmmaker you don't know
through Kickstarter? How about $5?
I think most of us are just like you.
I have financed all my shorts either alone or with
some help from friends and family. I could never
find people I didn't know to donate any money.
It looks like your family have already donated. And
even a couple of friends. That's a fine start.
Where did you get the money for first short? How
did you finance your feature?

Have you gone to any film festivals or film society meetings? They could be a good place to network with others who are interested in film and might be able to donate or help you out.
I would have to say that your first stop would have to be family and friends (after you've emptied out your bank account). If you're looking to shoot with $1,000 budget or so, you could probably just work for the money yourself - part-time, or summer job.

Hello,
I think a good idea would be to consider if you actually need the money after all i've made quite a few short films with practically no budget and they've done quite well.
Secondly I recommend that if you are adamant you can't make it happen without cash draw up a detailed budget and see where you would allocate money.
Thirdly you should approach a film commission for a small grant
I wish you the best with your filming and all of us know how hard it can be to get a film into filming alone
