My old cheap camcorder just broke and since then I have become very interested in filmaking. I will be making several shork films this summer and I have decided to get the Canon GL2 although I will have to save for a while. Right now I have about $1050. I found some cheap internet prices between $900 and $1300 but soon learned they were scam sites that often sell cameras programed in chinese and japanese and that they also charge hundreds of dollars to buy the accessories that are supposed to come with the camera in the first place.
I have decided that B and H film is my best bet at this point. Here is my first question. What is the difference between the packages below and which should I get? I want to get the camera as soon as I can but if the added accesories are things I will end up buying later, I might as well save for them now if it is cheaper:
click on items included to see what the packages come with.
My second question is: What is the cheapest price that I can possibly get the GL2 for reliably and from where? Where do you recomend I get it from? Thanks.
I definitely would not bother buying one new, which means you'll be best off purchasing it on ebay. You can get just the camera for about $950 and some fairly nice packages with extra batteries/tripods in the $1400 range.
You might want to look into getting an XL1 used instead if you think that will be in your price range.

I recommend you get it from B&H Photo. Maybe not the cheapest price, but very reliable.

Thanks guys. I don't think I'll risk getting the camera on Ebay mainly because there will be no warranty and I feel I need the 4 year one.
I found a couple other reliable places to buy the GL2 at similar prices to B and H's deals. Some of the package deals seem alot better than at B and H. If I did get it from B and H, I would get the 2nd package. Look at these other deals and tell me what you think though.
2)the other site was digital foto club but their servers must be messed up or something cause I am having troubles accessing the page.
